Summary:
DAI-10 is a 10-item scale developed to assess how the attitude of schizophrenia patients toward their medications may affect compliance. Respondents indicate 'true' or 'false' for each item.
Benefits of the DAI-10:
- High validity - Based on analysis of responses of 150 patients, DAI-10 was indicated to be an assessment tool with high consistency.
- Depth of insight - This assessment tool has the ability to distinguish between patients who are compliant with treatment and those patients who are non-compliant.
- Relevant content - Items on DAI-10 were selected specifically based on comments made by patients regarding their treatment. The content of this assessment tool is hence of high relevance.
Challenges of the DAI-10:
- Subjectiveness - As patients are asked to rate their subjective feelings in the 'subjective feeling factor' of DAI-10, it can be difficult to determine whether the response of a given patient refers to previous experience of medication or with current treatment.
